    My 80's machine

Post by redheddude222 on Sun Jul 11, 2010 10:09 pm

I was bored in French Lick this weekend, so i decided to wash the GTX and take a few pictures. I know the night ones are a bit blurry, I didn't have my tripod on me.

My brother was up hanging out with me for a little while Saturday, so I got one of his car.

I haven't really done much with the car since I got it. I updated all the general mainenance stuff, threw some Jawbreaker vinyls on it, and upped the timing and boost. 15psi right now, probably around 200 awhp. No torque at all.

Yeah, it's mine. Drove to Arkansas to get it, it broke down outside of St Louis, so I ditched it and went back the next day with a trailer. After wanting nothing to do with it the whole way home, it's now my favorite car I've ever driven. There's a saying that a lot of the hardcore GTX guys told me, and I believe it; You get all of the performance and hassles of an exotic with none of the looks.

Current plans, I'm ditching the Tokico Dirtra rally struts, and going with Pedders sport struts and CorkSport progressive rate lowering springs. Hopefully it will like paved corners a little better after that. Next will be rear sway bar and new tires.

No, it isn't. The pictures do it a lot of justice, and i haven't even touched under the hood yet. When it cools off a little I'll start making it look as good as I can.

Ripped the Tokico Dirtra suspension out tonight. My new Pedders GSR struts and CorkSport lowering springs are on their way. Then I just need new front upper strut mounts and an alignment and she'll be back on the road.

Got the temporary new suspension thrown on this morning. It made a big difference in the ride height, but the "low" stance is about what the Pro's stock stance was.

    After:

I'll get better pics up after she runs again. Battery died and won't hold a charge.

I dint think Japanada had anything to do with this one. It is a little too clean though. Rebuild it anyways, it never hurts.

It's rated at 180hp stock, but will be closer to 240 with bigger injectors, more boost, and a good tune on Megasquirt.

The motor and trans are all complete. It didn't come with the axles that were in the picture and they cut the wiring harness, but all the really important stuff is accounted for. I got it from TigerJDM.
