Post by mitsuman Fri Jul 22, 2011 6:32 pm

Here is my project car. Not my daily, so you won't see it out much. If you do, give me a honk. But please don't try and race me. I will ignore you. Laughing

I have side skirts, plus a few other small things, just haven't gotten around to putting them on yet.

Yep. OEM parts. I need to pick up a rear bumper at some point. Money for the project car is just a little tight right now. I have some other small OEM parts that will go on as well later. The only thing that won't be OEM on this (other than suspension/wheels) will be hood and trunk lid. I'll end up getting carbon fiber parts for those.

    Changing ways on this.
Selling the Evo IV body panels, not dropping in a 4g63T any longer.
Going back to a stock-ish looking Mirage, with a different engine option.

What made you decide to go a different way with it?

Not sure. I love the look of the Evo IV, just not sure if I want it to be my car. If that makes sense.
I think I like the idea of an understated exterior more.

Got one side done. Rear trailing arm/disc brake from an Evo I. Going to try and do the other side sometime this weekend and get the ebrake cables hooked up. Then on to the front brakes.

nice. I like the fact that you are taking the mirage and making it what it should have been.

Here is the engine that will be going in sometime later this year most likely.

I also picked up an Evo IV wide front bumper (custom one off from a shop in Japan), Evo V fenders (to match the wide bumper) and a few other odds and ends. The bumper is beat up. It did not survive a winter in Michigan very well. But nothing $$$$ and a good body man can't fix.
So yeah, going back to the Evo look. I just can't help myself.

I do not have the lip on, and you can see the missing piece on the passenger side of the bumper. I have the part, just need to attach it on there somehow (bondo most likely). And the lip is a three piece lip, and the center piece is broken. So I'll work on all that at some point. Or just wait until I have the Evo V skirts, rear arches and rear bumper and just do it all when the car gets painted.

I was waiting to just get a new hood. But yeah, it will come off before the car hits the road again.
